Meet Steady Debbie, the Made in Roath Ice Cream Van!

Meet Steady Debbie, the Made in Roath ice cream van. Debbie used to live in London and was known as Beau Belles - she travelled around festivals and events and was run as an artist led library and project space, and she was almost put into retirement until we spotted her for sale online and knew we had to have her in Cardiff.

She was not in a very good way when we got her, and had to make the journey on a flat bed truck, driven by our friend Stu as well as Made in Roath's Clare. Here's Stu looking very pleased to be behind the wheel...

We made a very peculiar convoy travelling down the M4 in gales and driving rain, but Debbie made it to Wales safely, and now lives at Spit and Sawdust, Cardiff's newest skate park, art space and cafe.

We're really excited about all the possibilities for Debbie as a flexible, mobile art space. She could be a residency space, a print or photography studio, a cinema, hold exhibitions, or even sell ice cream. Most recently she was a vodka bar, selling ice cream flavoured vodkas to help fund her refurbishment.

She'll be taking part in various events, Made in Roath or otherwise, this summer so keep an eye out for her and come and say hello.
